Barangay Punta

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Punta is one of the administrative divisions of Carles in Iloilo, Western Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Punta had a population of 1,489. This made it the 25th largest of 33 barangays in Carles by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Punta accounted for approximately 2.05% of the total population of Carles, which stood at 72,637 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Punta moving from 1,479 residents to 1,489 residents, an intercensal change of +0.7%. The trajectory indicates a slowly expanding community. Barangay Punta is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Carles is a municipality comprising 33 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Punta, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
