Barangay Cupang Proper

Barangay Cupang Proper forms part of City of Balanga, a city in Bataan, and is classified as a large barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Cupang Proper had a population of 11,581. This made it the 2nd largest of 25 barangays in City of Balanga by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Cupang Proper accounted for approximately 11.12% of the total population of City of Balanga, which stood at 104,173 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 9,583 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 11,581 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +20.8%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Cupang Proper is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Balanga is a city comprising 25 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Cupang Proper, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Bataan, which contains 237 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Cupang Proper ranks 8th by 2020 population. Bataan is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
