Barangay Taclobo

Classified as a large barangay, Barangay Taclobo is one of the administrative divisions of City of Dumaguete in Negros Oriental, Central Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Taclobo had a population of 9,458. This made it the 5th largest of 30 barangays in City of Dumaguete by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Taclobo accounted for approximately 7.05% of the total population of City of Dumaguete, which stood at 134,103 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Taclobo changed from 9,742 to 9,458, a shift of -2.9% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in City of Dumaguete. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Taclobo as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Dumaguete is a city comprising 30 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Taclobo, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Negros Oriental, which contains 557 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Taclobo ranks 12th by 2020 population. Negros Oriental is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Like every Philippine barangay, Barangay Taclobo is led by an elected Punong Barangay (barangay captain) supported by seven Sangguniang Barangay members (kagawads), an SK Chairperson, a Barangay Secretary, and a Barangay Treasurer. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
