Barangay Cubay

Barangay Cubay forms part of City of La Carlota, a city in Negros Occidental, and is classified as a large barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Cubay had a population of 5,211. This made it the 5th largest of 14 barangays in City of La Carlota by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Cubay accounted for approximately 7.82% of the total population of City of La Carlota, which stood at 66,664 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Cubay changed from 5,080 to 5,211, a shift of +2.6% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in City of La Carlota. Barangay Cubay is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of La Carlota is a city comprising 14 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Cubay, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Negros Occidental, which contains 662 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Cubay ranks 176th by 2020 population. Like every Philippine barangay, Barangay Cubay is led by an elected Punong Barangay (barangay captain) supported by seven Sangguniang Barangay members (kagawads), an SK Chairperson, a Barangay Secretary, and a Barangay Treasurer. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
