Barangay Old Sagay

Barangay Old Sagay is a very large barangay in the City of Sagay, located in the province of Negros Occidental, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Old Sagay had a population of 16,334. This made it the 1st largest of 25 barangays in City of Sagay by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Old Sagay accounted for approximately 10.97% of the total population of City of Sagay, which stood at 148,894 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 13,109 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 16,334 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +24.6%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Old Sagay is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Sagay is a city comprising 25 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Old Sagay, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Negros Occidental, which contains 662 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Old Sagay ranks 10th by 2020 population. Negros Occidental is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

The barangay's legislative and executive affairs are handled by a Punong Barangay and the Sangguniang Barangay, elected nationwide during the Barangay and SK Elections. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
