Barangay Habag

Situated in Guiuan, Eastern Samar, Barangay Habag is one of 60 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Habag had a population of 317. This made it the 57th largest of 60 barangays in Guiuan by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Habag accounted for approximately 0.59% of the total population of Guiuan, which stood at 53,361 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 300 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 317 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +5.7%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Habag is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Guiuan is a municipality comprising 60 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Habag, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Eastern Samar, which contains 597 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Habag ranks 487th by 2020 population.
