Barangay Poblacion Ward 1

Classified as a very small barangay, Barangay Poblacion Ward 1 is one of the administrative divisions of Guiuan in Eastern Samar, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Poblacion Ward 1 had a population of 423. This made it the 49th largest of 60 barangays in Guiuan by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion Ward 1 accounted for approximately 0.79% of the total population of Guiuan, which stood at 53,361 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Poblacion Ward 1 changed from 435 to 423, a shift of -2.8% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Guiuan. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Poblacion Ward 1 as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Guiuan is a municipality comprising 60 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion Ward 1, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Eastern Samar, which contains 597 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Poblacion Ward 1 ranks 407th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
