Barangay Dancalan

Barangay Dancalan is a large barangay in the municipality of Ilog, located in the province of Negros Occidental, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Dancalan had a population of 8,276. This made it the 1st largest of 15 barangays in Ilog by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Dancalan accounted for approximately 13.83% of the total population of Ilog, which stood at 59,855 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Dancalan changed from 7,839 to 8,276, a shift of +5.6% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Ilog. Barangay Dancalan is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Ilog is a municipality comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Dancalan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Negros Occidental, which contains 662 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Dancalan ranks 73rd by 2020 population. Negros Occidental is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

The barangay's legislative and executive affairs are handled by a Punong Barangay and the Sangguniang Barangay, elected nationwide during the Barangay and SK Elections. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
