Barangay Anonang

Barangay Anonang is a small barangay in the municipality of Leon, located in the province of Iloilo, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Anonang had a population of 1,062. This made it the 9th largest of 85 barangays in Leon by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Anonang accounted for approximately 2.04% of the total population of Leon, which stood at 51,990 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Anonang changed from 943 to 1,062, a shift of +12.6% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Leon. Barangay Anonang is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Leon is a municipality comprising 85 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Anonang, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Iloilo, which contains 1,901 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Anonang ranks 722nd by 2020 population.
