Barangay Apian

Classified as a very small barangay, Barangay Apian is one of the administrative divisions of Leon in Iloilo, Western Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Apian had a population of 215. This made it the 76th largest of 85 barangays in Leon by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Apian accounted for approximately 0.41% of the total population of Leon, which stood at 51,990 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Apian changed from 186 to 215, a shift of +15.6% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Leon. Barangay Apian is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Leon is a municipality comprising 85 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Apian, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Iloilo, which contains 1,901 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Apian ranks 1647th by 2020 population.
