Barangay Baje

Barangay Baje is a very small barangay in the municipality of Leon, located in the province of Iloilo, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Baje had a population of 463. This made it the 36th largest of 85 barangays in Leon by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Baje accounted for approximately 0.89% of the total population of Leon, which stood at 51,990 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Baje changed from 428 to 463, a shift of +8.2% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Leon. Barangay Baje is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Leon is a municipality comprising 85 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Baje, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Iloilo, which contains 1,901 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Baje ranks 1364th by 2020 population.
