Barangay Banagan

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Banagan is one of the administrative divisions of Leon in Iloilo, Western Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Banagan had a population of 554. This made it the 28th largest of 85 barangays in Leon by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Banagan accounted for approximately 1.07% of the total population of Leon, which stood at 51,990 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 379 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 554 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +46.2%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Banagan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Leon is a municipality comprising 85 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Banagan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Iloilo, which contains 1,901 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Banagan ranks 1236th by 2020 population.
