Barangay Barasan

Situated in Leon, Iloilo, Barangay Barasan is one of 85 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Barasan had a population of 562. This made it the 26th largest of 85 barangays in Leon by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Barasan accounted for approximately 1.08% of the total population of Leon, which stood at 51,990 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 492 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 562 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +14.2%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Barasan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
