Barangay Talacuan

Situated in Leon, Iloilo, Barangay Talacuan is one of 85 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Talacuan had a population of 2,516. This made it the 3rd largest of 85 barangays in Leon by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Talacuan accounted for approximately 4.84% of the total population of Leon, which stood at 51,990 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Talacuan changed from 2,544 to 2,516, a shift of -1.1% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with broadly stable populations in Leon. Barangay Talacuan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Leon is a municipality comprising 85 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Talacuan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Iloilo, which contains 1,901 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Talacuan ranks 151st by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
