Barangay Baybay (Pob.)

Barangay Baybay (Pob.) is a large barangay in the municipality of Liloy, located in the province of Zamboanga Del Norte, in the Zamboanga Peninsula region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Baybay (Pob.) had a population of 5,235. This made it the 1st largest of 37 barangays in Liloy by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Baybay (Pob.) accounted for approximately 12.40% of the total population of Liloy, which stood at 42,213 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 6,395 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 5,235 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -18.1%, consistent with a contracting settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Baybay (Pob.) as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Liloy is a municipality comprising 37 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Baybay (Pob.), including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Zamboanga Del Norte, which contains 691 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Baybay (Pob.) ranks 14th by 2020 population. Zamboanga Del Norte is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Barangay Baybay (Pob.) is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
