Barangay Canaan

Situated in Liloy, Zamboanga Del Norte, Barangay Canaan is one of 37 barangays that make up the municipality within Zamboanga Peninsula.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Canaan had a population of 581. This made it the 30th largest of 37 barangays in Liloy by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Canaan accounted for approximately 1.38% of the total population of Liloy, which stood at 42,213 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Canaan moving from 511 residents to 581 residents, an intercensal change of +13.7%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Canaan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
