Barangay Malbang

Situated in Maasim, Sarangani, Barangay Malbang is one of 16 barangays that make up the municipality within SOCCSKSARGEN.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Malbang had a population of 3,988. This made it the 8th largest of 16 barangays in Maasim by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Malbang accounted for approximately 6.14% of the total population of Maasim, which stood at 64,940 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Malbang changed from 3,621 to 3,988, a shift of +10.1% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Maasim. Barangay Malbang is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Maasim is a municipality comprising 16 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Malbang, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
