Barangay Pananag

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Pananag is one of the administrative divisions of Maasim in Sarangani, SOCCSKSARGEN, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Pananag had a population of 1,727. This made it the 14th largest of 16 barangays in Maasim by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Pananag accounted for approximately 2.66% of the total population of Maasim, which stood at 64,940 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Pananag changed from 1,686 to 1,727, a shift of +2.4% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Maasim. Barangay Pananag is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Maasim is a municipality comprising 16 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Pananag, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Sarangani, which contains 141 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Pananag ranks 117th by 2020 population. Sarangani is classified as a 2nd by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.
