Barangay Barbarit

Situated in Magsingal, Ilocos Sur, Barangay Barbarit is one of 30 barangays that make up the municipality within Ilocos Region.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Barbarit had a population of 879. This made it the 14th largest of 30 barangays in Magsingal by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Barbarit accounted for approximately 2.81% of the total population of Magsingal, which stood at 31,308 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Barbarit changed from 911 to 879, a shift of -3.5% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Magsingal. Barangay Barbarit is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
