Barangay Boniao

Situated in Mahayag, Zamboanga Del Sur, Barangay Boniao is one of 29 barangays that make up the municipality within Zamboanga Peninsula.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Boniao had a population of 1,633. This made it the 11th largest of 29 barangays in Mahayag by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Boniao accounted for approximately 3.38% of the total population of Mahayag, which stood at 48,258 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Boniao moving from 1,594 residents to 1,633 residents, an intercensal change of +2.4%. The trajectory indicates a growing community.
