Barangay Manguiles

Barangay Manguiles is a small barangay in the municipality of Mahayag, located in the province of Zamboanga Del Sur, in the Zamboanga Peninsula region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Manguiles had a population of 1,441. This made it the 13th largest of 29 barangays in Mahayag by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Manguiles accounted for approximately 2.99% of the total population of Mahayag, which stood at 48,258 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Manguiles changed from 1,409 to 1,441, a shift of +2.3% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Mahayag. Barangay Manguiles is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Mahayag is a municipality comprising 29 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Manguiles, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
