Barangay Malanang

Barangay Malanang is a large barangay in the municipality of Opol, located in the province of Misamis Oriental, in the Northern Mindanao region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Malanang had a population of 8,404. This made it the 3rd largest of 14 barangays in Opol by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Malanang accounted for approximately 12.67% of the total population of Opol, which stood at 66,327 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Malanang moving from 6,657 residents to 8,404 residents, an intercensal change of +26.2%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Malanang is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.
