Barangay Cabanbanan

Situated in Oton, Iloilo, Barangay Cabanbanan is one of 37 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Cabanbanan had a population of 2,833. This made it the 15th largest of 37 barangays in Oton by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Cabanbanan accounted for approximately 2.88% of the total population of Oton, which stood at 98,509 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Cabanbanan changed from 2,726 to 2,833, a shift of +3.9% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Oton. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Cabanbanan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Oton is a municipality comprising 37 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Cabanbanan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Iloilo, which contains 1,901 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Cabanbanan ranks 105th by 2020 population.
