Barangay Bugatay

Situated in Peñablanca, Cagayan, Barangay Bugatay is one of 24 barangays that make up the municipality within Cagayan Valley.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Bugatay had a population of 1,499. This made it the 19th largest of 24 barangays in Peñablanca by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bugatay accounted for approximately 2.98% of the total population of Peñablanca, which stood at 50,300 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Bugatay moving from 1,371 residents to 1,499 residents, an intercensal change of +9.3%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Bugatay as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
