Barangay Casili-on

Barangay Casili-on forms part of Salcedo, a municipality in Eastern Samar, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Casili-on had a population of 702. This made it the 11th largest of 41 barangays in Salcedo by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Casili-on accounted for approximately 3.17% of the total population of Salcedo, which stood at 22,136 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Casili-on changed from 755 to 702, a shift of -7.0% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Salcedo. Barangay Casili-on is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Salcedo is a municipality comprising 41 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Casili-on, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Eastern Samar, which contains 597 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Casili-on ranks 258th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
