Barangay Caronoan

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Caronoan is one of the administrative divisions of San Juan in Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Caronoan had a population of 670. This made it the 23rd largest of 32 barangays in San Juan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Caronoan accounted for approximately 2.51% of the total population of San Juan, which stood at 26,674 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 673 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 670 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -0.4%, consistent with a broadly stable settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Caronoan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

San Juan is a municipality comprising 32 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Caronoan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Ilocos Sur, which contains 768 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Caronoan ranks 451st by 2020 population.
