Barangay Tampugo

Situated in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, Barangay Tampugo is one of 43 barangays that make up the municipality within Ilocos Region.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Tampugo had a population of 1,263. This made it the 9th largest of 43 barangays in Tagudin by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Tampugo accounted for approximately 3.04% of the total population of Tagudin, which stood at 41,538 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,141 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,263 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +10.7%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Tampugo as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Tagudin is a municipality comprising 43 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Tampugo, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Ilocos Sur, which contains 768 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Tampugo ranks 158th by 2020 population. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
