Barangay Tungawan

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Tungawan is one of the administrative divisions of Tambulig in Zamboanga Del Sur, Zamboanga Peninsula, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Tungawan had a population of 1,848. This made it the 8th largest of 31 barangays in Tambulig by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Tungawan accounted for approximately 4.93% of the total population of Tambulig, which stood at 37,480 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Tungawan moving from 1,828 residents to 1,848 residents, an intercensal change of +1.1%. The trajectory indicates a slowly expanding community. Barangay Tungawan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
