Barangay San Jose Oco

Situated in Viga, Catanduanes, Barangay San Jose Oco is one of 31 barangays that make up the municipality within Bicol Region.

This made it the 4th largest of 31 barangays in Viga by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay San Jose Oco accounted for approximately 5.11% of the total population of Viga, which stood at 22,869 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,183 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,169 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -1.2%, consistent with a broadly stable settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay San Jose Oco as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Viga is a municipality comprising 31 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay San Jose Oco, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
