Barangay Soboc

Barangay Soboc is a small barangay in the municipality of Viga, located in the province of Catanduanes, in the Bicol Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Soboc had a population of 834. This made it the 11th largest of 31 barangays in Viga by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Soboc accounted for approximately 3.65% of the total population of Viga, which stood at 22,869 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Soboc moving from 869 residents to 834 residents, an intercensal change of -4.0%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Soboc is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Viga is a municipality comprising 31 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Soboc, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
