Barangay Mualbual

Situated in Zumarraga, Samar, Barangay Mualbual is one of 25 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Mualbual had a population of 862. This made it the 4th largest of 25 barangays in Zumarraga by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Mualbual accounted for approximately 5.30% of the total population of Zumarraga, which stood at 16,279 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 779 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 862 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +10.7%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Mualbual is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Zumarraga is a municipality comprising 25 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Mualbual, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Samar, which contains 951 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Mualbual ranks 283rd by 2020 population.
