Barangay Murong

Situated in Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya, Barangay Murong is one of 17 barangays that make up the municipality within Cagayan Valley.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Murong had a population of 2,864. This made it the 4th largest of 17 barangays in Bagabag by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Murong accounted for approximately 7.54% of the total population of Bagabag, which stood at 37,985 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Murong moving from 2,711 residents to 2,864 residents, an intercensal change of +5.6%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Murong is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Bagabag is a municipality comprising 17 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Murong, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Nueva Vizcaya, which contains 275 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Murong ranks 46th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
