Barangay Baucan Sur

Barangay Baucan Sur is a small barangay in the municipality of Balilihan, located in the province of Bohol, in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Baucan Sur had a population of 652. This made it the 15th largest of 31 barangays in Balilihan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Baucan Sur accounted for approximately 3.49% of the total population of Balilihan, which stood at 18,694 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Baucan Sur changed from 799 to 652, a shift of -18.4% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Balilihan. Barangay Baucan Sur is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Balilihan is a municipality comprising 31 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Baucan Sur, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
