Barangay 1 (Pob.)

Barangay 1 (Pob.) forms part of Balingasag, a municipality in Misamis Oriental, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay 1 (Pob.) had a population of 1,330. This made it the 22nd largest of 30 barangays in Balingasag by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay 1 (Pob.) accounted for approximately 1.79% of the total population of Balingasag, which stood at 74,385 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay 1 (Pob.) changed from 2,173 to 1,330, a shift of -38.8% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Balingasag. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay 1 (Pob.) as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Balingasag is a municipality comprising 30 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay 1 (Pob.), including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Barangay 1 (Pob.) is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
