Barangay 3 (Pob.)

Barangay 3 (Pob.) is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Balingasag, located in the province of Misamis Oriental, in the Northern Mindanao region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay 3 (Pob.) had a population of 2,426. This made it the 13th largest of 30 barangays in Balingasag by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay 3 (Pob.) accounted for approximately 3.26% of the total population of Balingasag, which stood at 74,385 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay 3 (Pob.) changed from 2,529 to 2,426, a shift of -4.1% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Balingasag. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay 3 (Pob.) as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Balingasag is a municipality comprising 30 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay 3 (Pob.), including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Misamis Oriental, which contains 504 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay 3 (Pob.) ranks 132nd by 2020 population. Misamis Oriental is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Barangay 3 (Pob.) is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
