Barangay Cogon

Situated in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental, Barangay Cogon is one of 30 barangays that make up the municipality within Northern Mindanao.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Cogon had a population of 7,163. This made it the 1st largest of 30 barangays in Balingasag by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Cogon accounted for approximately 9.63% of the total population of Balingasag, which stood at 74,385 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Cogon moving from 5,722 residents to 7,163 residents, an intercensal change of +25.2%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Cogon as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Balingasag is a municipality comprising 30 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Cogon, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
