Barangay Poblacion Sur

Situated in Barcelona, Sorsogon, Barangay Poblacion Sur is one of 25 barangays that make up the municipality within Bicol Region.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Poblacion Sur had a population of 1,247. This made it the 3rd largest of 25 barangays in Barcelona by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion Sur accounted for approximately 5.94% of the total population of Barcelona, which stood at 20,987 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Poblacion Sur changed from 1,224 to 1,247, a shift of +1.9% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with slowly expanding populations in Barcelona. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Poblacion Sur as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Barcelona is a municipality comprising 25 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion Sur, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
