Barangay Lower Usugan

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Lower Usugan is one of the administrative divisions of Bonifacio in Misamis Occidental, Northern Mindanao, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Lower Usugan had a population of 1,344. This made it the 12th largest of 28 barangays in Bonifacio by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Lower Usugan accounted for approximately 3.89% of the total population of Bonifacio, which stood at 34,558 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Lower Usugan changed from 1,339 to 1,344, a shift of +0.4% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with slowly expanding populations in Bonifacio. Barangay Lower Usugan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Bonifacio is a municipality comprising 28 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Lower Usugan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Misamis Occidental, which contains 490 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Lower Usugan ranks 146th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
