Residents of Barangay Malabia accounted for approximately 0.70% of the total population of City of Balanga, which stood at 104,173 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 723 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 725 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +0.3%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. Barangay Malabia is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Balanga is a city comprising 25 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Malabia, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
