Barangay Poblacion

Situated in City of Kidapawan, Cotabato, Barangay Poblacion is one of 40 barangays that make up the city within SOCCSKSARGEN.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 28,824. This made it the 1st largest of 40 barangays in City of Kidapawan by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 17.93% of the total population of City of Kidapawan, which stood at 160,791 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Poblacion changed from 31,586 to 28,824, a shift of -8.7% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in City of Kidapawan. Barangay Poblacion is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Kidapawan is a city comprising 40 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Cotabato, which contains 543 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Poblacion ranks 1st by 2020 population. Barangay Poblacion is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
