Barangay Magcaraguit

Situated in Dimasalang, Masbate, Barangay Magcaraguit is one of 20 barangays that make up the municipality within Bicol Region.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Magcaraguit had a population of 1,282. This made it the 9th largest of 20 barangays in Dimasalang by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Magcaraguit accounted for approximately 5.15% of the total population of Dimasalang, which stood at 24,909 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,602 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,282 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -20.0%, consistent with a contracting settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Magcaraguit as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Dimasalang is a municipality comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Magcaraguit, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Masbate, which contains 550 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Magcaraguit ranks 290th by 2020 population.
