Barangay Manghanoy

Barangay Manghanoy forms part of La Castellana, a municipality in Negros Occidental, and is classified as a large barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Manghanoy had a population of 5,645. This made it the 4th largest of 13 barangays in La Castellana by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Manghanoy accounted for approximately 7.10% of the total population of La Castellana, which stood at 79,492 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 5,353 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 5,645 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +5.5%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Manghanoy is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

La Castellana is a municipality comprising 13 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Manghanoy, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Negros Occidental, which contains 662 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Manghanoy ranks 159th by 2020 population. Barangay Manghanoy is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
