Barangay Sag-Ang

Classified as a large barangay, Barangay Sag-Ang is one of the administrative divisions of La Castellana in Negros Occidental, Western Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Sag-Ang had a population of 13,466. This made it the 2nd largest of 13 barangays in La Castellana by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Sag-Ang accounted for approximately 16.94% of the total population of La Castellana, which stood at 79,492 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 13,103 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 13,466 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +2.8%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Sag-Ang as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

La Castellana is a municipality comprising 13 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Sag-Ang, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Negros Occidental, which contains 662 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Sag-Ang ranks 16th by 2020 population. Negros Occidental is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Barangay Sag-Ang is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
