Barangay Tangcasan Sur

Barangay Tangcasan Sur forms part of Loay, a municipality in Bohol, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Tangcasan Sur had a population of 945. This made it the 5th largest of 24 barangays in Loay by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Tangcasan Sur accounted for approximately 5.29% of the total population of Loay, which stood at 17,855 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 846 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 945 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +11.7%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Tangcasan Sur is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Loay is a municipality comprising 24 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Tangcasan Sur, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Bohol, which contains 1,109 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Tangcasan Sur ranks 554th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
