Situated in Malungon, Sarangani, Barangay Atlae is one of 31 barangays that make up the municipality within SOCCSKSARGEN.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Atlae had a population of 2,312. This made it the 18th largest of 31 barangays in Malungon by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Atlae accounted for approximately 2.19% of the total population of Malungon, which stood at 105,465 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Atlae moving from 2,188 residents to 2,312 residents, an intercensal change of +5.7%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Atlae as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Malungon is a municipality comprising 31 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Atlae, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
