Barangay Banate

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay Banate is one of the administrative divisions of Malungon in Sarangani, SOCCSKSARGEN, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Banate had a population of 3,944. This made it the 7th largest of 31 barangays in Malungon by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Banate accounted for approximately 3.74% of the total population of Malungon, which stood at 105,465 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Banate moving from 4,134 residents to 3,944 residents, an intercensal change of -4.6%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Banate is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Malungon is a municipality comprising 31 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Banate, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
