Barangay Banahaw

Barangay Banahaw is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Malungon, located in the province of Sarangani, in the SOCCSKSARGEN region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Banahaw had a population of 2,089. This made it the 22nd largest of 31 barangays in Malungon by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Banahaw accounted for approximately 1.98% of the total population of Malungon, which stood at 105,465 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Banahaw moving from 1,999 residents to 2,089 residents, an intercensal change of +4.5%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Banahaw as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Malungon is a municipality comprising 31 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Banahaw, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Sarangani, which contains 141 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Banahaw ranks 104th by 2020 population.
