Barangay Poblacion East

Barangay Poblacion East forms part of Oton, a municipality in Iloilo, and is classified as a mid-sized barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Poblacion East had a population of 4,239. This made it the 7th largest of 37 barangays in Oton by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion East accounted for approximately 4.30% of the total population of Oton, which stood at 98,509 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 3,905 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 4,239 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +8.6%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Poblacion East as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Oton is a municipality comprising 37 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion East, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Iloilo, which contains 1,901 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Poblacion East ranks 31st by 2020 population.
