Barangay Apayao

Barangay Apayao forms part of San Gabriel, a municipality in La Union, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Apayao had a population of 985. This made it the 7th largest of 15 barangays in San Gabriel by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Apayao accounted for approximately 5.20% of the total population of San Gabriel, which stood at 18,943 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Apayao moving from 943 residents to 985 residents, an intercensal change of +4.5%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Apayao as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
