Barangay Bumbuneg

Situated in San Gabriel, La Union, Barangay Bumbuneg is one of 15 barangays that make up the municipality within Ilocos Region.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Bumbuneg had a population of 2,694. This made it the 2nd largest of 15 barangays in San Gabriel by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bumbuneg accounted for approximately 14.22% of the total population of San Gabriel, which stood at 18,943 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Bumbuneg changed from 2,431 to 2,694, a shift of +10.8% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in San Gabriel. Barangay Bumbuneg is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

San Gabriel is a municipality comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bumbuneg, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
